History
The Herbst Theatre is a cornerstone of San Francisco performing arts, with more than 200 shows presented on its stage every year. Distinguished as the historic site of the United Nations Charter signing in 1945, it is now the primary venue for many of the Bay Area's premier cultural organizations.

The Herbst Theatre is part of the War Memorial Performing Arts Center. Owned and operated by the City and County of San Francisco, the Herbst Theatre is now the primary venue for San Francisco Performances, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, New Century Chamber Orchestra, and Chamber Music San Francisco. It also hosts performances produced by the African American Shakespeare Company, and Another Planet Entertainment. The venue is available for rent to other producers and presenters. Those producers and presenters are responsible for all promotions and selling of tickets.
