The company also builds partnerships with local educational and social service agencies that require academic tutoring or tutor training for the populations they serve. In 2006, the company expanded its services to include music and aviation programs. Cornerstone is an independent business serving local needs, and is not a franchise or subsidiary of any other company.Founder/Instructor Tommy Miles, M.A., has over 20 years' successful experience in teaching, teacher training, and educational management at all grade levels. He has served as a classroom teacher, community college instructor, graduate level instructor, curriculum and assessment designer, high school vice principal, middle school and elementary school principal, student teacher supervisor, graduate level teacher trainer, and consultant. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science with an education minor from the University of California, Davis, and a Master of Arts degree in educational administration from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California. He has over 100 graduate units in curriculum and instruction, and holds three K-12 California clear teaching credentials: Multiple Subject, Single Subject ( life science ) and Administrative Services. Since 2004, he has taught master's level educational research design coursework for an online university. He is a private pilot and holds an FAA Advanced Ground Instructor certificate.
