History
In 1973, Stanislaus Rape Crisis was founded to provide intervention, education and counseling services to victims of rape and sexual assault. Haven Stanislaus Women's Refuge Center was founded in 1977 to provide services to victims of domestic violence and their children. In 1980, The Women's Center of Stanislaus opened its doors providing workshops and support groups for women-in-transition. By September of 1993, all three agencies had combined, with Haven providing the umbrella organization. Today, Haven is a multi-site, comprehensive service provider with the only dedicated domestic violence shelter in Stanislaus County
