about HATCh Kay Sides is at the helm of one the most innovative showrooms in the fashion industry. With showrooms in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas, Sides is representing some of the biggest designers in the business. Names such as James Perse, Lacoste, and PRPS hang inside the ultrachic Hatch Showroom. Sides and her business partner, Betsee Isenberg are the forces behind Hatch. With a loft-like feel the 35-foot high ceilings, walls of frosted glass, and an original bank vault ( now used to house top jewelry lines ) have become a sort of destination for fashionistas all over the world. Impressive for a woman whose Christian Loubatin heels had never touched the pavement of downtown Los Angeles until opening Hatch. Today Sides and Isenberg, are credited with being a critical component of the downtown Los Angeles revitalization project. Ms. Sides is a savvy businesswoman whose decisions aren't necessarily driven by the bottom line. By trusting her intuition whether it's picking a dress for dinner, plucking a new designer out of obscurity, or building a business, she is gaining a reputation for being the ultimate tastemaker. At once confidant and chic, yet low-key and unassuming, Sides possesses that rare ability to be at the epicenter of fashion without any tremor of attitude. Part of that may come from growing up in Hawaii and spending her childhood surfing and fishing. After high school, Sides headed to the mainland to attend business school at UCLA. Upon graduation, Ms. Sides landed a job at Chanel. After ten years with the prestigious fashion house, she was hired away to do the buying for the well-known Los Angeles boutique, Maxfield. One night she was dining with her friend Isenberg and the two began talking about creating a new modern kind of showroom. Within a year Hatch was born. In addition to Hatch, Sides is co-owner ( with Jeannine Braden of Fred Segal Flair ) of a Brentwood boutique called Post 26.
