History
Psychotherapy is my third career. After working in marketing during the dotcom boom of the late 90s, I had a clear sense that the business world was not quite right for me. After several months of exploration, I decided to become a Certified Rolfer and I have had a successful Rolfing practice in San Francisco and Berkeley for the past ten years. Living a human life is complex. The one constant that spans all facets of your life is your relationship to yourself. Whether you are struggling in your relationship to your partner, your career, your friends, your parents, your children, your sex life, your finances or anything else, your relationship with yourself is the one place in your life that you can shift that will impact everything else. Healing is about building relationships. What is your relationship to your anxiety, your sadness, your anger, your shame, your depression? Most of us resist these feelings when they arise and this is big part of what keeps us stuck. My approach is to help you befriend and accept all parts of yourself and find the fullest expression of who you are. Central to my approach is the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of psychotherapy. IFS says that we are made up of different parts. We have a family of different voices, feelings and points of view inside. Some of these parts are protective and some are vulnerable. Most people are suffering because they are resisting being with a part of themselves that is in pain and have lost contact with their calm, wise center. Internal Family Systems therapy offers a way to safely connect with our fear, grief, shame and anger and tap into a well of wisdom and compassion at the same time. This allows people to reduce the tension inside and feel more clear about who they are and what they want out of life.
