History
Since 1999 at it's present location, Edelweiss has been the place for mental/spiritual and physical cleaning (Dojang) for students of all ages. Originally started in 1997 in downtown Glendora in the Jazzercise building, we moved to Dance Street West from 1998-99, to the corner of Loraine and Route 66 from 1999-2021, recently to 20540 E. Arrow Hwy, Suite E., Covina, CA. 91724. We belong to the US Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit entity. Master Hoffmeister's studio of origin is Jang's Korean Karate in Santa Barbara. 8th Degree Master D.K. Jang (see Best of the Best DVD) is his Sa Bom Nim.
Specialties
This Do Jang specializes in the founding Grandmaster Hwang Kee's traditional Korean martial art of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan aka Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan (translation:school of martial virtue for the cultivation of the individual): dynamic flying kicks, floor sweeps, rolling, falling, hand techniques/self-defense, Korean/Chinese language and Moo Do (Budo) philosophy, sparring, forms, traditional weapons (short sword, halberd, long staff, knife), ground defense (kneeling, sitting, basic grappling).
