The Girl Scouts is a non-profit organization founded in 1912, and today it is the world's foremost leadership organization for girls. It serves more than 3.8 million members. The San Diego-Imperial Council is one of the nation's largest councils, with nearly 30,000 members. Girls ages 5 to 17 of every racial, ethnic, socioeconomic or religious background are welcome. Programs and activities are based on interest, availability and skill level, ranging from sports and hobbies, camping and traveling to preparing for college and careers.
