Friendship House is a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides residential substance abuse treatment programs for American-Indians. Founded in 1963, the organization operates a more than 25,000-square-foot building. It maintains a 70-plus-bed healing center and is licensed and certified by the State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs. Friendship House is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Its facilities are wheelchair-accessible and feature a hall, courtyard, lodge, meeting rooms, living quarters and basketball courts. The organization provides a job readiness support program that includes educational placement, resume development, and job and computer training services. Its Women's Health Demonstration Project features parenting skills training and domestic violence and relapse prevention solutions.
