Friends of Madrona Marsh is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, education, and aesthetics of the Madrona Marsh Preserve in Torrance, CA. For over forty years, they have worked in partnership with the City of Torrance to create and sponsor various activities that promote the understanding, enjoyment, and preservation of the marsh, including nature walks, docent tours, and community-wide projects.
Madrona Marsh Preserve is an urban oasis and one of the last remaining wetlands in southern California's coastal plain. This vernal marsh, sustained by winter and spring rains, provides valuable habitat for migrating birds, insects, spiders, frogs, reptiles, and small mammals. The Nature Center, located across the street from the preserve, offers educational programs and workshops, allowing visitors of all ages to explore and appreciate the unique natural resources of the marsh.
