History
Mercedes Williams, born in Peurto Rico, she was the youngest of 10 children. In 1943, her family moved to the Bay Area, where she became a successful woman and an advocate for a number of causes including child care, which as a young mother she saw the need and founded our school in 1961. FPNS is a non-partisan, non-profit, and non-sectarian organization formed in order to create a child-centered environment that has planned supervision for group activity on the preschool level, and to guide parents in family and social life.

Established in 1961, Fremont Parents' Nursery School (FPNS) is a parent-run, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a high quality, affordable preschool experience for children aged two to pre-K. FPNS relies on the commitment, involvement, and enthusiasm of participating families to create an enriching educational environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun!
