Sunset Center is a theater facility and community center in the heart of Downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. What began as a public school in 1926 has been transformed into a state-of-the-art performing arts center with an intimate 718 seats, stunning gothic architecture and incredible acoustics. Under the mantle of Sunset Presents, we bring a wide range of truly world-class performances and live events including global music, comedy, rock shows, theatre and dance. Our venue is also home to our historic presenting partners – the Monterey Symphony, Carmel Music Society, Chamber Music Monterey Bay and the renowned Carmel Bach Festival. A number of high-profile annual events are held at the Sunset Center, including the Carmel Art & Film Festival, the Carmel Author’s and Ideas Festival and the beloved Nutcracker from Dancekids of Monterey Bay.
