Eagle Rock Lutheran Church

This church is the successor to an older and smaller Lutheran Church that was founded in 1925 and dedicated in 1927, with a congregation of just 14 people from a mostly German ethnic background. Although the original church was enlarged in 1941 to accomodate its growing congregation, it proved too small and a new church, also located on the corner of Maywood Avenue and Chickasaw Avenue, was built. The current Eagle Rock Lutheran Church was designed by architect Walter Hagedohm and dedicated on March 11, 1962. It now serves a largely Filipino congregation as well as an adjacent preschool, the Lutheran International School, with which it shares a parking lot.

Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd is located near the 110 freeway in Highland Park. Since 1932, the Church of the Good Shepherd has provided the Highland Park community with a Christian place of worship in the Lutheran tradition. In adition to the weekly Sunday service at 10am, there is also a pre-school and elementary school adjacent to the church with before-school and after-school care, as well as private education for children from 2 years old through sixth grade.

Jehovah's Witnesses

This congregation is primarily for Spanish speakers, serving the Latino communities of Highland and Cypress Park with a place for Jehovah's Witnesses to meet and pray. Jehovah's Witnesses are a specialized Christian group with millions of members worldwide; the group originated out of the Bible Student movement that Charles Taze Russell formed in the late 1800s. It holds Thursday night study groups.
