History
Executive Airport (SAC) opened as Sutterville Aerodrome in 1930. The city-owned facility steadily expanded the airport's three runways were expanded in 1941. The U.S. Army Corps later took over the airport during World War II. Following the war, control was returned to the city and the facility was renamed Sacramento Municipal Airport. Improvement projects completed over the next two decades included parking and taxiway paving, water and sewer systems, runway/taxiway lighting and construction of the terminal building, navigational aids and T-hangars. In October 1967, commercial airline operations relocated to the new Sacramento Metropolitan Airport. Since then, Executive Airport has been focused on general aviation, offering a wide range of general aviation services.
