Erwin's Piano was founded in 1951 by my father Harold Erwin after concluding his training in Chicago by the renowned Englishman, and piano artisan, William Braid White. Through his legacy, the Erwin name has become synonymous with custom, artisanal piano restorations throughout California and beyond. Your early 20th century piano is 80 to 110 years old. They have aged and degraded with climatic damage and generations of use. Because of this, the need for quality restoration has increased. Due to this increase, our 3, 000 sq. ft. piano workshop has grown to incorporate all phases of this beautiful work, including complete soundboard design, construction, and replacement. We build our own hybrid pin blocks as well. We also offer high quality case refinishing. An in depth analysis of your action and key leverages are applied to our custom action & key rebuilding process. Meticulously balancing the keys and action is the crucial final step to provide a precise, responsive, and enjoyable touch. Unlike many shops we do all this work in the same location, making Erwin's Piano Restoration your one-stop-shop for quality restoration. Although the restoration of Steinway & Sons and Mason & Hamlin pianos comprise the bulk of our clients, we continue to thoroughly enjoy the restoration of many other fine makes of instruments both domestic and foreign. We apply the same performance enhancing techniques and materials to these as well. We are especially fond of American pianos, both grand & uprights and are blessed with a treasure trove of old instruments to restore in this country. How about yours?
