The emphasis is on "cars," as opposed to the pedestrian "carts" golfers drag around courses on two wheels. We are talking serious (miniature) cars here--Hummers, Escalades, Elegantes--all built to exact scale and including every detail (mahogony steering wheels, CD players, headlights, swamp cooler, etc.) found on full-scale models.
Every electric golf car comes equipped with seven rechargeable batteries, providing an effective range of about 25 miles (the average golf course is about five miles long). Several large models have valid license plates and are street legal (top speed about 45mph), in case, between holes, you need to run to the grocery store.
The cars are available for rent or purchase. The Hummer goes for $23,000.
