The Drug Abuse Alternatives Center is one of the largest and oldest drug and alcohol abuse prevention and treatment organizations in Northern California. Founded in 1969, it is a private and nonprofit organization that provides a variety of outreach, assessment, intervention, education, treatment and follow-up services for youth and adults. The center helps to reduce the negative impact of alcohol and other drug use upon individuals, families, schools and the community. The Drug Abuse Alternatives Center offers counseling services to more than 2,500 individuals, as well as outreach and testing services to approximately 21,000 people. Located in Santa Rosa, Calif., it provides various outpatient and residential treatment options for adults with alcohol and other drug problems. The center additionally provides school-based programs and a juvenile probation program for nonviolent adolescents involved in the criminal justice system.
