Los Angelas Chargers
One of eight charter members of the now-defunct American Football League, the San Diego Chargers Football Company is the National Football League s San Diego-based franchise. The team played in Los Angeles its inaugural year and moved to San Diego in 1961. In 1970 the Chargers, along with the nine other AFL teams, joined the NFL. They have since claimed one AFL championship in 1963 and one conference championship in 1994. The team also has inducted six players Lance Alworth, Dan Fouts, Sid Gillman, Charlie Joiner, Ron Mix and Kellen Winslow into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The San Diego Chargers Football Company is based in San Diego, though not at the team s home field, the 71,500-capacity QUALCOMM Stadium.
