History
Housed in a replica of the original city hall and waterworks building, the museum showcases displays about the city of Sacramento and the Gold Rush. The Sacramento History Museum was established in 1984 as the Sacramento History Center. In 1994, the museum joined forces with the Sacramento Science Center and created the Discovery Museum of Sacramento. The museum continued as the Discovery Museum Gold Rush History Center until July 2008.
