Delano Regional Medical Center provides health care services for a primarily rural population of more than 80,000 residents in Delano, Calif. Services include weight loss surgery, special care unit, education, volunteer, emergency, outpatient and community wellness programs. In 1990, DRMC became the first hospital in Kerm County to perform Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies (gall bladder surgery). Within a year, most other hospitals in the county began offering the innovative procedure. DRMC is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospital scored 94 percent during its triennial inspection, earning the commission's highest three-year accreditation rating.
