Xcite Steps was founded in 2005 by Stefan Hochfilzer and Matthew Winkley to support, enrich and empower children and teens in San Diego who have it harder than the average child due to a developmental or cognitive disability and give them the personalized attention, encouragement, skills and emotional support to succeed.Furthering academic, social or physical development, enjoying recreational activities, exercising and having the company of friends are all important to a child’s psyche. A child or teen experiencing challenges may have a harder time establishing and managing these needs and a mentor can provide the structured and balanced approach to make after school and weekend hours both productive, social and fun.
