Cypress Avenue Baptist Church has been a warm, friendly spiritual family since October 29, 1950. Cypress started as a mission church named Immanuel Baptist Church on Sutter Avenue with 30 people. In 1954, the mission purchased four acres on Cypress Avenue in Carmichael; however, the church did not adopt its current name until 1960.
Now approaching its sixth decade of ministry, Cypress strives to be a place that cares about people and meets the needs of a constantly changing community. Cypress has been honored to be one of the first to lead in the area of ministry for the mentally challenged. In the mid 1980's Cypress started a Special Adult Ministry that to this day still shares Christ's love with these special people.
