Serving more than 18,000 students in 20 elementary schools and five middle schools the Cupertino Union School District covers a 26-square mile area which includes the city of Cupertino, as well as portions of neighboring cities San Jose, Sunnyvale, Saratoga, Santa Clara and Los Altos. CUSD's student population is diverse — 70 percent Asian (includes Indian subcontinent), 23 percent white, five percent Hispanic, and one percent each black and Filipino — with about 48 languages represented. The schools in the district are high-performing schools achieving top API test scores year after year.
