Striving toward academic excellence, the Coronado Unified School District serves about 3,100 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Its mission is "to graduate students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in higher education, careers, society, and life with the confidence not only to dream, but to determine their futures." And with about 90 percent of its students going on to college, it seems they are achieving that goal.
District schools include: Village Elementary School, Silver Strand Elementary School, Coronado Middle, Coronado High School and Palm Academy Continuation High School.
The middle and high schools have comprehensive athletic programs. Other special programs include: preschool programs, adult education classes, Coronado School of the Arts (COSA), COSA Digital Media & Filmmaking Department, NJROTC, Coronado Academy for Special Education, Laptop Program (grades 6 -8), Advanced Placement (AP), Instrumental Music (grades K – 12) and Technology Resource teachers (grades K -12).
