Coronado Middle School opened its doors in August 2001. Since then, it has been repeatedly ranked in the top 10% of middle schools, according to the state's Academic Performance Index (API). The school serves about 700 students in grades 6 through 8, and it shares its state-of-the-art athletic facilities with the nearby high school. CMS strives to provide an optimal learning environment for its students. Its classrooms are equipped with the latest technology and a wireless network runs throughout the campus. The school also participates in a voluntary laptop program, which allows students to bring their personal computers to school.
