Named in honor of the Charles Cobb Family, and the one-time head of the university's Faculty Athletic Committee, Dr. Frank Angell, Cobb Track and Angell Field is home to both the men's and women's track and field teams. The 400-meter, nine-lane, all-weather track was completed in 1996 and was later resurfaced in 2003 with the state-of-the-art Tartan Dual-Durometer 13 mm Embedded System. Additional features include multi-direction runways for pole vault, long jump and triple jump, and the Otis Chandler Infield, the venue for all field event competitions (except the hammer throw). The gates of the 1,772-guest capacity facility open one hour prior to the start of scheduled meets; otherwise, it is open every day for the recreational use of students and staff.
