Founded in 1908, Clifford Street Elementary School is a small, urban school located in the hills of Echo Park. The school is also a Blue Ribbon School of excellence and earned an API score of 845 in 2009. Programs and initiatives include an arts program with visual arts, dance and theater. There is also a partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, an after-school arts program that features drumming and keyboarding and a physical education program.
In 2009, the school had 180 students, 10 certificated teachers and one teacher without full credentials. Armineh Alexan is the principal.
