The San Bernardino Water Resources Division provides a variety of services that are typically covered by local water companies, such as water quality reports, water meter and water usage information. Special projects analyze the work of consultants both for the district and private developers. This section looks into new technologies that deal with prediction of channel and floodplain flows to see how they fit with historical events. Master planning provides the means for floodplain management. While the work parallels that of special projects it covers much larger areas and requires less precision. The hydrology section collects a variety of climatological data from the county. Precipitation, stream flow and temperature comprise most of the available data. This data is stored in a specialized database and is used in flood control storm warning, structure and channel design, runoff calculations and environmental studies. The San Bernardino Water Resources Division is located in San Bernardino, Calif.
