With more than 100 years of history in Albany, the Church on the Corner is a welcoming, community-oriented church that most everyone in town knows of. It is affiliated with the Growing Healthy Churches regional entity, and its long presence and service in the community was recognized in 2008 by Robert Lieber, Albany's mayor at the time.
The church was for many years called The First Baptist Church of Albany, but in 2005 it changed its name to Church on the Corner because that is how most people referred to it. The church has been on this corner since 1948, following several decades of moving around to different locations in Albany.
Pastor Tom Cullen and his wife Dorothy Cullen, who runs the children's program, describe Church on the Corner as a Bible-based, Christ-centered church. Its worship services include contemporary music as well as traditional hymns, and Sunday school is offered for children and youth each week.
