Set on a residential street, the Christ Episcopal Church is a welcoming destination. Not only for visitors who may wish to join the congregation, but for those just passing through who want a piece of history on Coronado Island. Originally founded as a mission in 1888, construction on the structure seen today began in 1894. The congregation is large with more than 500 members, and described as having the core values of community and spirituality. On Sundays, a morning prayer is offered starting at 7:45 a.m. followed by worship services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Beyond Sunday services, there are various other options to get involved, such as men's and women's group, Sunday school, a seminar series and volunteer opportunities. Christ Church also operates a day school for children and a thrift shop that donates proceeds to the church and other outreach ministries. Church doors are open during office hours for those who wish to visit or pray/meditate individually.
