CASA of Monterey County is a social service and welfare organization engaging in the safety and well-being of children. Based in Salinas, Calif., it caters to abused and neglected children by providing continual case supervision. It also offers monthly educational forums, designed to address the concerns and needs of CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates). CASA of Monterey County adopts and adheres to both the National and local criteria for the initial training of Court Appointed Special Advocates. It offers training in the areas of child development and family systems, community resources for children, court appearances and testimony, court report writing as well as cross-cultural issues, among others. It also publishes articles and papers for the cause.
