Chef Janine Falvo and sommelier Chris Sawyer bring diners "approachable modern Californian cuisine crafted from fresh, seasonal, local ingredients," paired with local and imported fine wines. This restaurant is located inside of the Lodge at Sonoma, a Renaissance Hotel, right across Broadway from Train Town. While the lodge and restaurant are owned by a hotel chain, Carneros Bistro maintains a connection to local ingredients and cuisines, and provides a friendly, inviting atmosphere, including a full bar. A vegetable and herb garden surrounds the restaurant on two sides, and chef Falvo picks many of her fresh ingredients right there. Sommelier Sawyer offers a free "Grapes to Glass" wine education night every Tuesday at 5:30pm, which includes a wine tasting. Monday is locals night, when customers are invited to bring their own bottles of wine to enjoy with no corkage fee. On Thursdays, guest winemakers and proprietors come to share what they know during "Celebrity Wine Bartender" night. Along with these regular events, menus and special events are always changing with the seasons; it's a good idea to check the Carneros Bistro website to see what else is happening.
