Operational since 1929, California Highway Patrol is a law enforcement organization that provides safety and security services for residents. The organization offers field and air support services for various emergency service agencies. It operates the Information Management Division, which provides communication infrastructure, technical hardware, application software and personnel, as well as operation support services. California Highway Patrol also manages the Enforcement Services Division, which deals with commercial and specialized vehicle regulation, hazardous material and waste transportation and vehicle theft investigation, as well as drug interdiction activities. Its Administrative Services Division offers departmental budget development, mail, and facility acquisition, repair and maintenance services. The organization is a part of the government of California.
