Blood Centers of the Pacific, also known as BCP, is a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides blood and related components to hospitals and physicians throughout Northern California. The organization includes the Blood Systems Research Institute which conducts medical research to improve blood safety and patient care. It helps more than helps 45,000 patients annually. The organization employs a staff of over 400 full- and part-time people. It processes nearly 95,000 blood components annually. The organization works with churches, synagogues, schools and colleges. Blood Centers of the Pacific is a subsidiary of Blood Systems, which is one of the largest blood collection organizations in the United States.
