Bike East Bay works for safe, convenient and enjoyable bicycling for all people in the East Bay, promoting bicycling as an everyday means of transportation and recreation. Founded in 1972, Bike East Bay safeguards the interests of bicyclists in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We work with 33 cities, Caltrans, and other government agencies to make bicycling in the East Bay safer, easier, and more enjoyable. Bike East Bay represents its 4,000+ individual members and the several thousand members of 19 affiliated clubs and organizations that are part of the coalition. Our organization is responsible for organizing free events like the annual Bike to Work Day celebrations or Pedalfest in Oakland's Jack London Square. We offer free bike skills and safety classes for adults, youth, and families in English, Spanish, and Cantonese. We provide free valet bike parking at events all over the East Bay. We advocate for better bike access on East Bay transit and bridges, and much, much more!
