Bighorn Institute, founded in 1982, is a privately funded nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wild sheep through research and education. Focusing on the endangered Peninsular bighorn in southern California, it has successfully released 127 bighorn into the wild, preventing the disappearance of two local herds and monitoring wild populations along the southern rim of the Coachella Valley.
As the only organization of its kind, Bighorn Institute owes its success to the generosity and support of its Board of Directors and members, making significant contributions to the preservation of wild sheep populations in North America.
