This is the Southern California chapter of Hadassah, a woman's volunteer Zionist organization. The group's mission is to strengthen America's partnership with Israel, to ensure Jewish continuity and to enhance the quality of American-Jewish life through education, youth programs, health awareness and personal enrichment. Activities, events and fundraisers are held throughout the year. Membership is available annually or for a lifetime, and men are accepted as Associate members.
The Hadassah organization counts more than 8,000 members in 26 different chapters among Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, and Pomona Valley in its membership base. The Beverly Hills Chapter was established in 1938, 26 years after the original founding of the organization. The current location was dedicated in 1991 with a grant from the Mark Taper Foundation, since Amelia Taper was an active member of Hadassah.
