Built in 2008, Helen Bernstein High School is located on the corner of Wilton Place and Fountain Avenue. The school is divided into different learning communities. There are several academies, including: Arts, Media, and Entertainment (AME), Business, Technology, and Labor Relations (BTLR), and The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Medicine (STEM). The Academic Performance Excellence (APEX) Academy is a program geared toward at-risk youth. The high school is named after Helen Bernstein, an educational reformer and former president of United Teachers Los Angeles. The school mascot is the dragon.
