History
Bay Ballet Academy was founded by Maximo Califano to educate and cultivate professional dancers. The academy's vision of dance is based on intensive training that is instilled with a sense of movement, simplicity, and cheerful energy. For more than 20 years, Maximo Califano, Director & Main Dance Teacher, has remained on the forefront of American dance performance and education. Maximo's talent as a dance instructor was apparent early in his career. Soon after graduating from the Superior Institute of Art, Colon Theater in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he began teaching at several ballet schools locally and then, internationally. Maximo decided to open Bay Ballet Academy to share his knowledge about dancing, performing, and fitness with his beloved citizens of San Jose.
Specialties
Bay Ballet Academy offers profesional ballet and Pilates training to students of all ages, sizes, and skill levels. The academy is equipped with new sprung Marley floors, wooden barres, large mirrors, and sound system. The academy specializes in ballet but it also offers lyrical, modern, jazz, hip hop, Pilates and other type of dances (group and private classes are available). Some of its students come from different artistic and sport disciplines such as dancers, ice skaters, ballroom dancers, tennis players and others. Most lessons are taught by Maximo Califano, Bay Ballet Academy Director & main dance teacher.
