History
Backstreet Art District started when a trio of artists forgot to lock their studio door one day and visitors opened said door to see if they could look at the art inside. As luck would have it, the visitors purchased art and the concept of a backstreet row of galleries/studios took form as artists came and went over the next few years. In 2005, the landlord decided to lease only to studios and galleries - if one gallery/studio should leave, another one would replace it - making an exciting, ever-changing environment for art lovers. It also lends itself to a less-than predictable set of business hours - most businesses are open Wednesday though Saturday. If you have a particular gallery you want to visit, please check with them to find out their hours of operations. Current galleries include: Artize, David A. Clark, Fusion Art, Galleria Marconi, Howard's Custom Frame, Julianna Poldi, Maxson Art, Rebel, Stephen Baumbach Photography, Studio 13, Tom Ross and The Studio.
