History
In 1931 the original ASUC Student Union opened on the UC Berkeley campus. By the mid-1950's it had become clear that the student union complex were too small and antiquated for the student body. The Alumni Association proposed a new Student Union complex at Bancroft and Telegraph. By 1961 the ASUC Student Union buildings were designed and built by Vernon DeMars. In 2015 the newly renovated MLK Jr. Building and Eshleman Hall open. The new buildings become the true heart of campus and provide a campus living room for students.
