History
Apparel Arts was established in 1996. We are currently in our 21st year of teaching! Suzy Furrer began Apparel Arts as a way to teach industry standard classes to those who aspire to work in apparel industry and to those who work in the industry, but want to sharpen their skills. We also welcome the serious sewing and patternmaking hobbyists. Students can participate in our 24-30 month Patternmaking and Design Program or they can come in to take a one-off class. Apparel Arts has 6 instructors - all of whom have industry experience. We have a beautiful space in Oakland, California which houses 3 teaching studios. Our class size is limited to 12 with one instructor. We have classes Mondays through Saturdays, year round.
