The name may keep changing, but the quality of the sushi and Japanese cuisine has remained consistent at this restaurant presently known as Apengo. It's formerly gone by the monikers Japengo, then Gapengo.
Sake is served liberally here. Happy hour from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays makes this a bargain drinker's paradise.
The menu has lots of creative signature rolls, and a full palette of entrées completes a comprehensive Japanese bistro menu. Sushi may be the primary attraction, but Kobe beef and deep-fried breaded pork provide a notable and robust contrast.
Apengo also offers several miso-with-seafood soups and udon dishes.
