Vision Literacy

Vision Literacy is a nonprofit literacy advocate in Santa Clara County. It teaches adults to learn to read. It also offers tutorials in writing, math and computer skills or advance their fluency in English as a second language. Its programs are nationally accredited and learner advancement is monitored using CASAS assessments. Vision Literacy is the only literacy organization in Silicon Valley to meet all 16 rigorous quality standards required by ProLiteracy America. All of our quality services are free to any adult needing to become functionally literate. There is also a Vision Literacy center in Gilroy.

Young Musicians Choral Orchestra

The Young Musicians Choral Orchestra (YMCO) is a nationally recognized East Bay youth program that offers musical training, academic reinforcement, and personal development to low-income and underprivileged students. With a focus on orchestral, jazz, and choral music, YMCO serves 70 students and has achieved a 100% graduation rate, with students going on to excel at prestigious universities and conservatories. Over the past decade, YMCO students have collaborated with Grammy-award winning musicians and have received over $13 million in scholarships. Recognized as the #1 Choral-Orchestra Program in the Bay Area, YMCO was honored with the Coming Up Taller Award from the President's Council on the Arts and Humanities, leading to a performance at the White House in 2007.Generated from the website
