Amaratek was founded in November 2002 and incorporated as a California C Corporation in February 2003 to deliver research and development services for Defense and Homeland Security. Initially providing contract services to the US Department of Defense, Amaratek developed a biological system for the neutralization of chemical weapons and delivered a working system to the US Army in March 2004. During this period, David Dumas, PhD, Founder and Technical Leader of Amaratek, was consulted by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and the US Army for innovative solutions for the demilitarization of chemical and biological weapons and by the FDA for the Bioshield Project. Recognizing that many of the skills and insights honed for military applications can also be applied to civil government projects where needs for reliable health systems, water, energy, and transportation mirror defense needs, Amaratek has provided technical services to foreign governments, NGOs, and social entrepreneurs. Amaratek remains focused on Defense and Homeland Security technologies and their extended applications in the commercial and other markets.
