History
In 2010 Sierra Pacific Industries sold 10 miles of the Amador Central Railroad to the Amador County Historical Society (ACHS) and the RRC Historical Society (RRCHS). The two societies have worked together for 10 years to maintain this wonderful historic railway. In 2021, the owners agreed to have the Amador Central Railroad Corporation (AMC) maintain and operate the railroad. We make the railroad available for public rides so that others can experience this bit of Amador County history. 2021 will be our fifth year providing monthly rides, March through November (weather permitting). Please join us on the rails at Lanes Station.
Specialties
We love to take people on a ride that is seldom taken on a railroad. You ride in a vintage railcar on the Amador Central Railroad. The operators of the vehicles share stories and history about the railroad and the vehicles while you enjoy the scenery of rural Amador County. We are planning to commence our public rides on the second Saturday of each month from March through October. Our next public rides will be on September 10. Rides are $10 per person, children under 5 are not permitted. Because of the heat, ticket sales will start at a bit before 9 am, rides are at 9 am, and a bit after 10. Only two runs on this Saturday. Rides take about an hour for a 6 mile round trip. Please do not wear open toed shoes for your safety. Please be aware that we can not take pets on rail motorcars. We do not allow smoking or vaping on the motorcars rides because of fire danger in Amador county.
