The ABC Unified School District is a representative of urban school districts throughout the United States. The school district was formed in 1965 as a result of combination of Artesia, Bloomfield and Carmenita school districts. The district is governed by a board of education and includes elementary schools, middle schools, comprehensive high schools, a college preparation school, a continuation high school, infant and children centers, extended day care and adult school. The school offers programs for special education students, gifted and talented students, and limited or non-English speaking students, as well as a variety of independent study, vocational education and advanced placement courses. The communities served by ABC Unified School District include the cities of Artesia, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens and Long Beach, Calif., Lakewood, Co., and Norwalk, Conn. ABC Unified School District is located in Cerritos, Calif.
