The Vestal Police Department works to preserve peace and deter crime through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. The department performs duties related to crime prevention, sexual offenses, drug abuse, juvenile crime and homicide. It operates a detective division that conducts criminal investigations and processes warrants and evidences. The Vestal Police Department operates a communication center that responds to calls for police, fire and medical emergency services. The department is comprised of more than 40 sworn officers, civilian dispatchers and records clerks. It also employs school resource and juvenile officers.
