History
The Purple Cow diner and soda fountain has long been a Central Arkansas favorite. Customers enjoy our classic decor and nostalgic atmosphere, but the fantastic food definitely keeps them coming back. People love our gourmet burgers, specialty sandwiches and old-fashioned soda fountain treats - including the iconic, hand-dipped vanilla shake. It all started in 1989, when businessman Ed Moore and Chef Paul Bash launched The Purple Cow. That original location - modeled after classic diners of the 50s - was a hit, and was soon followed by a second spot. The founders retired, transitioning the beloved Cow to businessman Philip Tappan. Philip has teamed up with restaurateur Ken Vaughan to continue to grow Purple Cow. It's been 21 years since The Purple Cow first opened its doors, but we're staying true to our much-loved roots. The decor is still classic. The atmosphere is still nostalgic. The food is still fantastic. And you know what? We wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy!
Specialties
Sure, our service is terrific and the family-friendly atmosphere is great for kids. But it's our food that keeps people coming back for more. Treat yourself to some of our classic diner specialties - famous burgers, grilled sandwiches and creamy shakes - or try something entirely new (if Fried Pickle Spears are wrong, we don't want to be right). We never claim to be fancy, but we always promise to be good. Enjoy!
