The Arkansas Legislative Council, also known as ALC, prepares the summaries of procedures, timelines and pending issues for annual fiscal sessions. The council decides the final dates for the submission of budget requests and recommendations. It was established by the Act 264 of 1949 to collect data and information for making legislative decisions during the regular session of the general assembly. The Arkansas Legislative is the supervisory committee for the Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Research. The council coordinates the activities of the various interim committees. In addition, it provides the legislative oversight of the executive branch of government. The Arkansas Legislative Council is administered by the Arkansas General Assembly.
