The Transportation Division is a public agency that provides maintenance and construction services for streets, sidewalks and roads throughout the City of Fayetteville in Arkansas. It maintains more than 400 miles of streets and over 300 miles of sidewalks, as well as nearly 200 miles of drainage ditches. The division is responsible for the installation and maintenance of street markers, curbs, gutters, and traffic signals and signs. It additionally offers crack sealing, pothole patching, asphalt overlaying, gravel street maintenance, street evaluation and sweeping, and spot surface, sub-base, shoulder and guardrail repair services. The division coordinates a drainage program that includes cleaning and reshaping of drainage ditches; removal of silt and debris from drop inlets; power washing of blocked driveway tiles; and installation of drain tiles and drains. Additionally, the division undertakes inspection, cleaning and maintenance of bridges and related structure within the city. It provides trail construction, sidewalk, and traffic control and maintenance programs. The division has a staff of approximately 65 full-time and more than 10 part-time employees. The Transportation Division is a part of the government of the City of Fayetteville, which also operates aviation, engineering, fire and police departments.
